Carton sizes, CBM & loading plans
Carton dimensions, box count and CBM are useful together. None alone is a loading plan.
Start with the full configuration
A sofa configuration may contain several cartons. Request the length, width, height, quantity, net weight and gross weight for every carton type. Match the information to the selected model and packaging version.
Calculate volume with consistent units
For dimensions recorded in millimetres, one carton’s volume in cubic metres is length × width × height ÷ 1,000,000,000. Multiply by the number of cartons of that type and add all carton types for the complete set.
As an illustrative calculation only, a 1,000 × 500 × 500 mm carton has a volume of 0.25 m³. This is not a SWELUP product specification or a quotation.
Keep weight and handling in view
Volume does not replace weight, stacking limits or handling requirements. Ask about the strength and orientation of the package and any compression storage limits. These factors affect storage and transport planning.
Treat container loading as a separate exercise
Dividing a container’s theoretical volume by carton CBM does not prove the number of complete sofas it can carry. Door clearance, carton orientation, stacking, weight, configuration mix and safety allowances all matter. Request an evaluated loading plan for the specific packaging version.
Compare on the same basis
A smaller carton does not automatically mean an equivalent reduction in freight cost or transport emissions. Any comparison needs a defined baseline, route, load and calculation method.
Send the selected model, quantity and destination through the wholesale inquiry.
