What to record before approving a compressed furniture model for a business order.

## Define the sample before it is made

Record the model, configuration, dimensions, material specification, colour reference and packaging version. Agree who is reviewing the sample, what constitutes acceptance and how changes will be recorded.

## Review the product

- Compare appearance with the agreed reference from several angles.
- Confirm the measurement units, axes and tolerances.
- Evaluate seating and support for the intended user and use.
- Check covers, stitching, connectors and any setup steps.
- Match care instructions to the actual upholstery.

Appearance and a brief seating check do not replace applicable performance or safety testing. Ask which tests apply to the product and intended market, and ensure the documents match the configuration and materials.

## Review packaging and recovery

Record carton sizes, box count and weights. Photograph the package on arrival and the opening process. Evaluate recovery under agreed conditions and note how long the product was compressed, where that information is available.

## Review the information that travels with it

Check labels, instructions, warnings, language requirements and traceability information. For a private-label project, review the approved artwork and any rights needed to use designs and imagery.

## Approve the version, not just the photograph

Keep the approved sample and specification identifiable. Record any remaining changes before production. Confirm the bulk inspection plan, commercial terms and how deviations will be handled.
